[plugins] Enforce marketplace source admission requirements (#29753)
## Why Managed marketplace source requirements only become effective when every local marketplace mutation path applies the same admission decision. This change centralizes that decision so CLI, app-server, and external-agent migration flows cannot add, install from, or refresh a disallowed source. ## What changed - Match exact normalized Git repository URLs with an optional exact `ref`. - Match Git hosts with managed regular expressions. - Match local marketplaces by exact absolute path. - Preserve the expected path/name boundary for managed OpenAI marketplaces. - Enforce source admission during marketplace add, plugin install, and configured Git marketplace upgrade. - Continue upgrading independent marketplaces when one source is rejected and return a per-marketplace error. - Load the effective requirements stack at CLI, app-server, and external-agent migration entry points. This PR does not filter already configured marketplaces at runtime; that remains in draft follow-up #29691. ## Stack This is PR 2 of 3 and is based on #29690, which introduces the requirements data shape and merge behavior. ## Test plan - Source matcher coverage for Git URL/ref, host-pattern, local-path, and managed marketplace cases. - Marketplace add and plugin install coverage for allowed and rejected sources. - Marketplace upgrade coverage for rejection and per-marketplace continuation.

auth: move domain mode below app wire types (#29721)
## Why Authentication mode is a domain concept used by login, model selection, telemetry, and transports. Keeping the canonical type in app-server protocol forces those lower-level crates to depend on an unrelated wire API. ## What changed - Added canonical `codex_protocol::auth::AuthMode` domain values. - Kept the app-server wire DTO unchanged and added an explicit app-side conversion. - Removed production app-server-protocol dependencies from login, model-provider-info, models-manager, and otel call paths. ## Stack This is PR 2 of 6, stacked on [PR #29714](https://github.com/openai/codex/pull/29714). Review only the delta from `codex/split-json-rpc-protocols`. Separate local and remote plugin analytics IDs (#29495)
## Why Plugin analytics overloaded `plugin_id`: most events used the Codex `<plugin>@<marketplace>` identity, while remote install events used the backend plugin ID. That makes the same field change meaning across event types and complicates downstream identity resolution. This change makes the contract unambiguous: - `plugin_id`: the local Codex `<plugin>@<marketplace>` identity, when resolved - `remote_plugin_id`: the backend plugin identity, when available For a remote install failure that happens before plugin details resolve, `plugin_id` is `null` and `remote_plugin_id` remains populated. ## What changed All six plugin analytics events use the same identity contract: - `codex_plugin_installed` - `codex_plugin_install_failed` - `codex_plugin_uninstalled` - `codex_plugin_enabled` - `codex_plugin_disabled` - `codex_plugin_used` Remote identity is resolved from the current installed-plugin snapshot first, with persisted install metadata as fallback. The telemetry metadata type keeps local identity optional for failures that occur before remote details are available. The app-server test client's manual analytics smokes now find remote mutation events through `remote_plugin_id` and validate that `plugin_id` remains local. ## Remote uninstall Resolve and capture telemetry metadata before removing the local plugin cache, then emit `codex_plugin_uninstalled` after the backend confirms success. The event is also emitted when backend uninstall succeeds but local cache cleanup reports `CacheRemove`. If a concurrent remote-cache refresh removes the local bundle before telemetry capture, the already-fetched remote plugin detail supplies fallback capability metadata. ## Validation - `just test -p codex-analytics` — 82 passed - `just test -p codex-core-plugins` — 271 passed - `just test -p codex-app-server-test-client` — 5 passed - `just test -p codex-plugin` — 3 passed - `just test -p codex-app-server plugin_install` — 37 passed - `just test -p codex-app-server plugin_uninstall` — 10 passed The production app-server install/uninstall flow was also exercised against `plugins~Plugin_f1b845ac33888191ac156169c58733c2` (`build-ios-apps@openai-curated-remote`), and the plugin's original uninstalled state was restored.

[plugins] Add dark-mode logo metadata (#29488)
Adds additive dark-mode plugin logo metadata across manifests, remote catalogs, and the app-server protocol while keeping uninstalled Git listings free of synthetic local paths. Supersedes #28945. This replacement uses an upstream branch so trusted CI can use the repository-provided remote Bazel configuration. ## Current state Plugin interfaces expose only the default logo asset. Clients therefore cannot select a dedicated dark-mode logo even when a plugin provides one. ## What this PR changes - Adds nullable `logoDark` and `logoUrlDark` fields to `PluginInterface`. - Resolves local `interface.logoDark` assets and maps remote `logo_url_dark` values. - Removes path-backed interface assets, including `logoDark`, from uninstalled Git fallback listings until the plugin has a real local root. - Updates the bundled plugin validator and manifest reference. - Regenerates the app-server JSON schemas and TypeScript types. Local manifests expose `interface.logoDark` as a package-relative asset path. Remote catalog responses expose `logo_url_dark`. These values map into separate app-server fields so clients can preserve local-path and remote-URL handling. ## Risk The fields are additive and nullable, so existing clients retain their current logo behavior. The main risks are an incomplete mapping path or exposing a synthetic local path for an uninstalled Git plugin. Local-manifest, remote-catalog, fallback-listing, protocol serialization, and app-server integration tests cover those paths. Spiciness: 2/5 ## Testing - `just write-app-server-schema` - `just fmt` - Regression test first failed with `logo_dark` resolved to `/assets/logo-dark.png`, then passed after the fallback-listing fix. - `just test -p codex-core-plugins` (267 tests passed) - `just test -p codex-app-server 'suite::v2::plugin'` (114 tests passed) - `just test -p codex-app-server-protocol -p codex-core-plugins -p codex-plugin -p codex-skills` (517 tests passed before the follow-up) - `just test -p codex-tui plugin` (47 tests passed) - Validated a local plugin manifest containing `interface.logoDark` with the bundled validator. ## Manual verification Create a local plugin with both `interface.logo` and `interface.logoDark`, then call `plugin/list` or `plugin/read`. Confirm the response contains separate `logo` and `logoDark` paths. For a remote catalog entry, confirm `logoUrlDark` is populated from `logo_url_dark`. For an uninstalled Git marketplace entry, confirm path-backed interface assets remain absent until installation. Issue: N/A - coordinated maintainer change.

[codex] fetch featured IDs for remote plugins (#29485)
## Summary - fetch featured plugin IDs when the loaded catalog includes `openai-curated-remote` - extend the existing remote marketplace regression test to cover the featured IDs response ## Why When the remote plugin catalog was enabled, app-server loaded `openai-curated-remote` but skipped `/plugins/featured` because the request processor only fetched featured IDs for the local `openai-curated` marketplace. As a result, the desktop app could not render the backend-curated remote featured set. [codex] Centralize Plugin Analytics Metadata (#27102)
This PR moves construction of `PluginTelemetryMetadata` from loader and model helpers into `PluginsManager`, which already owns installed plugin state and will eventually perform remote identity enrichment. Replace SkillsManager with SkillsService (#28705)
## Why Host skill discovery was still exposed as a manager even though it is a process-owned service shared by sessions, the app-server catalog, and file-watcher invalidation. The skills extension also consumed an ad hoc loaded-skills wrapper instead of a named immutable snapshot. ## What changed - replace `SkillsManager` with concrete `SkillsService` - make the service cache and return immutable `HostSkillsSnapshot` values - migrate the skills extension host provider to the snapshot boundary - migrate app-server catalog, watcher, and invalidation paths to the service This keeps the service limited to host discovery, caching, roots, and invalidation. Catalog rendering and invocation remain extension responsibilities for the next stacked change.

TUI Plugin Sharing 2 - add remote plugin section plumbing (#26702)
This adds the background plumbing for remote-backed plugin catalog sections while leaving the fuller directory presentation to the next PR. The TUI can fetch section-specific remote marketplace results, keep local plugin data available, and carry section errors forward for later rendering. - Fetches explicit remote marketplace kinds for curated, workspace, and shared-with-me sections. - Gates shared-with-me loading on the plugin sharing feature flag. - Adds section-level error state and user-actionable error copy. - Merges remote marketplace results into the cached plugin list without discarding local results.

## Context This is the next step in the plugin auth-routing stack. The earlier PRs make `PluginsManager` auth-aware and move the broad App/MCP surface decision into that layer. This PR narrows the ChatGPT/SIWC behavior so we only hide a plugin MCP server when it conflicts with an App declaration of the same name. In product terms: if a plugin exposes both an App route and MCP route for `foo`, ChatGPT/SIWC sessions should use the App route for `foo`. [codex] expose remote plugin share URL (#27890)
## Summary - expose the remote plugin detail endpoint's `share_url` as nullable `PluginDetail.shareUrl` - preserve existing `PluginSummary.shareContext` behavior for local and workspace sharing flows - regenerate the app-server TypeScript and JSON schema fixtures ## Why The remote plugin detail response already includes a canonical `share_url`, but that value was not surfaced by `plugin/read` for global plugins. Route hosted Apps MCP through extensions (#27191)
## Stack - Base: #27184 - This PR is the second vertical and should be reviewed against `jif/external-plugins-1`, not `main`. ## Why CCA is moving toward a split runtime where the orchestrator may have no filesystem or executor, but it still needs to activate remotely hosted plugin components. HTTP MCP servers are the simplest complete example: they need configuration and host authentication, but they do not need an executor process. The Apps MCP endpoint is currently synthesized by a special-purpose loader inside the MCP runtime. That works locally, but it leaves hosted MCP activation outside the extension model being established in #27184. It also makes the Apps path a poor foundation for plugins whose skills, MCP servers, connectors, and hooks may come from different sources or execute in different places. This PR moves that one behavior behind an extension-owned contribution while preserving the existing local fallback. It deliberately does not introduce a generic plugin activation framework. ## What changed ### MCP extension contribution `codex-extension-api` gains an ordered `McpServerContributor` contract. A contributor returns typed `Set` or `Remove` overlays for MCP server configuration; later contributors win for the names they own. The contract stays at the existing MCP configuration boundary. Extensions do not create a second connection manager or transport abstraction. ### Hosted Apps MCP extension A new `codex-mcp-extension` contributes the reserved `codex_apps` server from the existing Apps feature, ChatGPT base URL, path override, and product SKU configuration. When `apps_mcp_path_override` is enabled for `https://chatgpt.com`, the resulting streamable HTTP endpoint is `https://chatgpt.com/backend-api/ps/mcp`. The existing ChatGPT-auth gate remains authoritative, so this server can run in an orchestrator-only process without being exposed for API-key sessions. ### One resolved runtime view `McpManager` now distinguishes three views: - **configured:** config- and plugin-backed servers before extension overlays; - **runtime:** configured servers plus host-installed extension contributions; - **effective:** runtime servers after auth gating and compatibility built-ins. App-server installs the hosted MCP extension and uses the runtime view for thread startup, refresh, status, threadless resource reads, connector discovery, and MCP OAuth lookup. This keeps `mcpServer/oauth/login` consistent with the servers exposed by the other MCP APIs. The hosted Apps server itself continues to use existing ChatGPT host authentication rather than MCP OAuth. ## Compatibility Hosts that do not install the MCP extension retain the existing Apps MCP synthesis path. This preserves current local-only, CLI, and standalone-host behavior while app-server exercises the extension path. Disabling Apps removes the reserved `codex_apps` entry, and losing ChatGPT auth removes it from the effective runtime view. Executor availability is not consulted for this HTTP transport. ## Follow-ups The next vertical will resolve a manifest-declared stdio MCP server from an executor-selected plugin root and execute it in the environment that owns that root. Later verticals can add backend-owned skills, connector metadata, hooks, durable selection semantics, and incremental local convergence without changing the component-specific runtime boundaries introduced here. ## Verification Focused coverage was added for: - contributing the hosted Apps MCP at `/backend-api/ps/mcp` without an executor; - requiring ChatGPT auth in the effective runtime view; - removing a reserved configured Apps server when the Apps feature is disabled. `cargo check -p codex-app-server -p codex-mcp-extension -p codex-extension-api -p codex-mcp` passed. Tests and Clippy were not run locally under the current development instruction; CI provides the full validation pass.

Use cached remote plugin catalog for plugin list (#26932)
## Summary This changes the default remote plugin marketplace listing to use the cached global remote catalog when it is already present on disk. The foreground `plugin/list` response can then return from the local catalog cache instead of waiting on `/ps/plugins/list`. When a cached global catalog was present at the start of the request, `plugin/list` still schedules a background refresh through the existing plugin-list background task path so the disk cache is updated for future requests. Cache misses keep the existing synchronous remote fetch path and write the cache, and they do not schedule an extra duplicate background `/ps/plugins/list` refresh. Installed/enabled state continues to come from the existing remote installed overlay path. This PR makes the split mechanical and command-prefix oriented so request families own only the dependencies they use. ## What changed - Replaced `CodexMessageProcessor` with command-prefix request processors under `app-server/src/request_processors/`. - Removed the old config, device-key, external-agent-config, and fs API wrapper files by moving their API handling into processors. - Split apps, plugins, marketplace, catalog, account, MCP, command exec, fs, git, feedback, thread, turn, thread goals, and Windows sandbox handling into dedicated processors. - Kept shared lifecycle, summary conversion, token usage replay, and shared error mapping only where multiple processors use them; single-use helpers were inlined into their owning processor. - Removed the fallback processor path and moved processor tests to `_tests` files. ## Validation - `cargo test -p codex-app-server` - `cargo check -p codex-app-server` - `just fix -p codex-app-server`
